Shadows and Light è il secondo album dal vivo della musicista canadese Joni Mitchell. È stato pubblicato nel settembre 1980 dalla Asylum Records, la sua ultima pubblicazione per l'etichetta. È stato registrato nel settembre 1979 al Santa Barbara Bowl di Santa Barbara, California[3].
Per l'album, la Mitchell fu supportata da un gruppo di acclamati musicisti jazz e fusion composto dal chitarrista Pat Metheny, dal bassista Jaco Pastorius, dal batterista Don Alias, dal tastierista Lyle Mays e dal sassofonista Michael Brecker. Inoltre, il gruppo vocale dei Persuasions compare nella title track e in una cover di Why Do Fools Fall in Love di Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers.
