THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED è il decimo album della band pubblicato nel 2004 e ha raggiunto la diciottesima posizione della classifica Billboard.Si tratta del primo disco prodotto dopo lo scioglimento del 2002 che vede di nuovo Chris Poland all'interno del gruppo ed è inoltre il primo senza David Ellefson al basso.Lalbum viene ripubblicato completamente rimasterizzato dal produttore Ted Jensen (lo stesso dei Pantera e Mastodon) e ristampato nella versione LP dopo 15 anni.
